Political relations between Germany and Egypt are marked by close cooperation and mutual high-ranking visits. Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder visited Egypt from 4 to 5 October 2003 and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak visited Germany twice in 2004, most recently from 2 to 4 November. Federal Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer has already visited Egypt many times, most recently in August 2004.
German parliamentarians, ministers of central and federal state government and delegations from different German towns regularly travel to Egypt for talks and joint activities.
Contacts exist in almost all areas and both countries are interested in extending their successful cooperation and stepping up political dialogue.
